Karnataka Sangha, Ahmedabad, Gujarat State has been established in the year 1947 and has reached the stage for celebration of 75th Diamond Jubilee of its Establishment. A brief history of Karnataka Sangha, Ahmedabad is given below for your kind information.

In the year 1947 there were more than 100 Textile Mills in Ahmedabad, which is familiarly known as Manchester of India. The Textile Engineers/Technicians, labourers- skilled and unskilled- in large numbers migrated from Karnataka to Ahmedabad in search of jobs in textile industries, business opportunities and other avocation. As of now, there are more than 60,000 Kannadigas in Ahmedabad and over 2,00,000 Kannadigas in Gujarat State professing various occupation/profession. We the people of Karnataka origin have been the part of Gujarat’s development journey by contributing in Hotel business, Education, Banking, Logistics, Infrastructure, Textile, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Engineering, Retail & Service sectors. The Sangha is located in a salubrious environment.

Having felt the need for having a forum for projecting the promoting Karnataka Cultural Heritage and to interact with culture and tradition of the other states of India and the world, Kannadigas residing in Gujarat conceived the idea of having a Karnataka Sangha and established it in the year 1943 as a Charitable Trust. Prominent functions held by the Sangha was cultural activities such as dance, music, arts etc to entertain Kannadigas. The Sangha consolidated itself and got itself registered formally with registration number F125 Ahmedabad. Subsequently in the year 1947 the Sangha has been registered as a Trust with Trust registration number F/135/AHMEDABAD, Ever since then the Sangha is engaged in promoting Kannada language, Karnataka Cultural Heritage and interacting with cultural and traditional aspects. It is also engaged in rendering social service by providing scholarship to talented poor children, providing medical aid by holding medical camps, helping inmates of Orphanages and Old Age Ashrams by providing necessary clothing, personal necessities etc.

Several personalities of high stature have held the office of President and office bearers of the Sangha over the years. A list of past and present Presidents of the Sangha is enclosed herewith. Our Sangha is also registered with Niti Ayog Registration Unique ID GJ/2021/028638, and exempt from Income Tax under Section 80G with unique registration number AABTK2411QF20074 and CSR Contribution eligible for CSR expenditure- CSR Registration number CSR00011236. It has consolidated its strength by embrasing the other Sanghas established by Kannadigas such as Bunts Sangha, Sri Raghavendra Mandal, Sahasrarjuna Somvamseeya Kshatriya Samaja, Sri Siddaroodha Seva Samaja, Billava Sangha, Rudravamsheeya Kshyatriya Sangha, Tulu Sangha all based in Ahmedabad. We take immense pleasure to inform your benign self that “Karnataka Sangha Ahmedabad-Gujarat” is celebrating its 75th establishment anniversary- the “Amrut Mahotsava” this year. To commemorate this event, we are organizing a Mega programme “KARNATAKA DARSHANA” at Ahmedabad on 8th & 9th October 2022 to showcase Culture, Music, Art, Food & Tourism of Karnataka. This event is mainly focused on our cultural and social bondage between Karnataka & Gujarat.
